1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Unfried ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Unfried is a mobile application that helps users reduce screen time through gamification. The App tracks your usage of selected apps on your device and represents that usage through a virtual fry character with a "time bar" that depletes as you use tracked apps.
Your screen time data, tracked apps, coins, hats, streaks, and fry history are stored locally on your device. The App does not create user accounts. Some limited data is transmitted to third-party services for subscription management, crash-free version checks, analytics, and optional user-submitted feedback — see our Privacy Policy for details.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Unfried. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the App.
4. Free Trial and Subscription
Unfried requires a paid subscription to use after a free trial period.
- 7-day free trial — Every new user receives full access to the App for 7 days starting when onboarding is completed. No payment is taken during the trial.
- After the trial — To continue using the App, you must subscribe. Until a subscription is active, the App will display a paywall and core functionality will be unavailable.
- Restoring purchases — If you have previously purchased a subscription, you can restore entitlement from the paywall screen.
The App does not currently offer a permanent free tier. Pricing, trial length, and plan availability may change; any change will apply to purchases made after the change takes effect.
5. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
Unfried offers the following plans through Apple App Store and Google Play in-app purchase. Prices shown are in USD and may vary by region:
- Monthly — $9.99 / month, auto-renewing
- Annual — $59.99 / year, auto-renewing
- Lifetime — $79.99, one-time purchase (non-renewing)
By purchasing:
- You agree to the pricing displayed at the time of purchase.
- Auto-renewing subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase, and at the start of each renewal period for auto-renewing plans.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your device's App Store or Google Play account settings.
- The Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase tied to the App Store or Google Play account used to buy it. It does not auto-renew.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. We do not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds ourselves.

6. Permissions
Unfried requires certain device permissions to function:
- Usage Access (Android) — Required to read app usage statistics via the UsageStatsManager API
- Screen Time API (iOS) — Required to access screen time data via DeviceActivityFramework
- Notifications — Optional, used to send local alerts when your time bar reaches certain thresholds
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. The App may have reduced functionality without them.
7. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the App
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to circumvent any security features of the App
8. Intellectual Property
All content in Unfried — including the fry character, illustrations, animations, dialogue text, and user interface design — is the intellectual property of Unfried and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without written permission.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
Unfried is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
- The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Screen time data will be perfectly accurate (accuracy depends on platform APIs)
- The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions
Unfried is a tool to help you build better habits. It is not a medical device and should not be used as a substitute for professional advice regarding screen time, mental health, or digital wellness.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unfried and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or device malfunction.
11. Data & Privacy
Your use of Unfried is also governed by our Privacy Policy. In summary: your screen time data stays on your device. A small number of third-party services (subscription management, version checks, and anonymous analytics) receive limited data as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Termination
You may stop using Unfried at any time by uninstalling the App. Upon uninstallation, all locally stored data is permanently deleted. If you have an active subscription, you must cancel it separately through the App Store or Google Play to avoid further charges.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
